Lesson 1 - Anh Lộc taught tones & sounds. OÁT, OẠT, OÁC, OẠC, OÁCH, OẠCH, OÉT, OẸT, OÉC, OẸC, ON, NG. (worksheet)

 

Lesson 2 - Anh Bảo taught us about composite words (worksheet). Good news: Because of composite words, your understanding of Vietnamese will accelerate faster than you ever thought possible! Class practised in smaller groups with instructors.

 

The students received a list of Theocratic Terms & were encouraged to learn these with these picture flashcards for homework.

 

Lesson 3 – Last week we learnt about the value of having a personal phrase book.

Some examples from students:

Xin lỗi, anh có thể nói lại cho tôi? Excuse me, can you say that again for me?

Xin lỗi, tôi nói một ít Tiếng Việt. Excuse me, I speak a little Vietnamese.

Anh ở đây lâu chưa? (or) Anh ở đây bao lâu ròi ? How long have you lived here?

Xin lỗi nếu tôi đánh thức anh dậy. I'm sorry if I woke you up.

Đồ ăn thơm quá! The food smells very good!

Lesson 5 – Anh Long taught language structure. (worksheets)

Anh Long explained that sự + adjective/verb = noun.

We learnt about Affirmative Imperatives: đi, hãy.

We also learnt about Negative Imperatives: chớ, đừng.

When listening to Vietnamese at meetings or witnessing, take note of how many times you hear "đi" & "hãy".

 

Lesson 6 - Students took a few minutes practising their field service presentations with instructors.
